The recent surge in the advancement of artificial intelligence has brought up concerns regarding its role in the global business landscape. A great example of this is the popularity of ChatGPT and the discourse surrounding its impact on how businesses operate.

This, however, is not an isolated incident as other AI models are now able to create images and voiceovers that previously could only produced with the help of professionals. Subsequently, this opens up a realm of new possibilities for small businesses to advance their operations in areas that they previously lacked.

Nevertheless, this also brings concerns regarding the potential impact that such advancements in technology could bring on professionals who are now being replaced in favor of these new technologies.

The application of AI in the workplace has offered new insights into how technology has impacted productivity and convenience. In fact, the usage of corresponding applications such as ChatGPT has become instrumental in the automation of daily tasks and the reduction of human error. This is especially useful in the context of small businesses that can now allocate more resources to more important tasks.

Although, because of the nature of AI technology, these smart models will grow and develop faster with continual usage. Additionally, the wide variety of the different AI systems further expands the scope of what is possible with the help of AI.

The consequences of AI:

However, there are adverse consequences that are a direct result of this rapid growth. A clear instance in which the usage of AI is being scrutinized is in the art community. This is due to large corporations opting to use AI art for promotional purposes rather than hiring artists for their work.

This unfortunately is setting a bad precedent for the future of the creative industry as it undermines the creative process that is involved in creating art. Moreover, since AI technology is still in its infancy stages the willingness of large corporations to depend upon it to this extent is concerning. Furthermore, the increased reliance on these AI tools brings into question the potential harms of misinformation that result from AI.

In particular, deep fake technology, which misinforms the masses by creating edited images and videos that, to the untrained observer, may look real. Correspondingly, OpenAI the creators of ChatGPT are being investigated by the US Federal Trade Commission due to potential risks that ChatGPT may have on users.

It is evident that the true extent of the effect AI technology will have on the future of businesses as a whole is limited to our current understanding of its potential and limitations. Equally significant are the laws and regulations that will govern and define how AI systems will operate in the future.

Be that as it may, currently AI systems are a useful tool that must be integrated with people in mind and not used as a means to replace human creativity.
