In defence of the Pro Life Society

All about the society signing people up for CPR classes and firefighter training

It’s no secret that the state of women’s health care is a disaster worldwide. Thankfully, the Life Society has come along to fix that. No longer are the days of women being forced to carry nonviable pregnancies to term, putting their life at risk. Can you imagine if the life society supported this archaic practice? Spreading misinformation and lies about evil people deciding to terminate a pregnancy at 30 weeks for no reason? The Life Society supports rape survivors, fighting for their right to get an abortion if they choose to do so. They even support the average person who simply does not want to be pregnant, because they understand that abortion is health care, not murder. The Life Society knows that women are more than human incubators and fights for their rights.

The Life Society has not set up a suicide hotline or put it on their social media to help people struggling, but based on their pro-life stance, we can only assume it is coming soon. They are also working to ban conversion therapy because of the association with increased suicidal tendencies. Don’t let pro-conversion therapy Instagram reposts from the society’s president fool you, it is clearly to infiltrate and destroy them from the inside. No one part of a society about protecting life would be against banning an institution with direct ties to self harm and suicide — it just doesn’t stand to reason.

Thank God for the Life Society, which promotes blood and bone marrow donations and hosts bake sales to donate to cancer research. Thank God that they are speaking out against the genocide in Palestine. After all, what would the point of the Life Society be if not to make sure people keep living? At other universities, “pro life” societies only focus on removing abortion rights, which is known to increase maternal mortality and increase homicide rates of pregnant women by their partners. Thankfully, the University of Aberdeen Life Society doesn’t use false science, bad faith arguments, and shaming to pressure people into not getting abortions.
