Antisemitic flyers were distributed near a park last week in the latest incident of racist material distributed in Aberdeen.<\/p>\n
Flyers found near Victoria Park blame Jewish people for the rise of \u2018transgenderism\u2019 and \u2018mass immigration\u2019, and promote a Nazi propaganda film.<\/p>\n
One of the antisemitic leaflets reads, \u201cevery single aspect of mass immigration is Jewish,\u201d suggesting that well-known Jews are nefariously conspiring to promote immigration. The leaflets link to a website pushing conspiracy theories alleging that global events and groups are Jewish-controlled.<\/p>\n
Stand Up To Racism (SUTR) Aberdeen and Moray warned of the racist flyers on social media, saying, \u201cwe are appalled but not surprised\u201d to see antisemitic material distributed weeks after other racist material was found in the same area.<\/p>\n
A representative for the University of Aberdeen Jewish Society said they were \u201cdisgusted\u201d by recent instances of antisemitism, including racist anti-Jewish tropes uttered by students at anti-migrant rallies and conspiratorial flyers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese revised iterations of the standard tropes the leaflets employ are dangerous and deeply hurtful and, crucially, do not reflect reality.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately, such public displays of antisemitism have become all too common lately, and while much of it has stemmed from the glorification of terror in recent years, it is important to equally recognise these age-old blatantly racist forms of messaging and the animosity that they inspire.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe unequivocally condemn these hateful flyers along with the previous anti-black posters containing equally horrendous rhetoric.\u201d<\/p>\n
A separate leaflet recently found in Aberdeen promotes a Telegram link to a channel for White Lives Matter, a white supremacist group. Other pseudoscientific leaflets distributed in Victoria Park promoted misleading stats about crime rates of black people in the USA.<\/p>\n
Police Scotland are investigating the latest antisemitic leaflets. Their spokesperson said: “Officers are investigating a hate crime after an antisemitic leaflet was discovered in the Aberdeen area on Monday, 6 April, 2026. Enquiries are ongoing. A second leaflet was found Tuesday, 7 April, 2026, and enquiries are ongoing. We cannot confirm at this time if the incidents are linked.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police Scotland have also said they are investigating a poster inciting death to black people spotted in Aberdeen at the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Stand Up To Racism (SUTR) claimed, \u201cThese kinds of flyers are the result of the toxic atmosphere created by Unite the Clans Scotland (UTC), formerly Aberdeen Against Illegal Migration (AAIM), which has made racists in our city feel emboldened and empowered.<\/p>\n
\u201cMuch of the rhetoric in these leaflets mirrors the rhetoric of the fascist Homeland Party which has ties to UTC, and regularly turns up to their \u2018protests\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Iona Fyfe, folk singer and Aberdeen University rector, shared, \u201cIt\u2019s important that we stand together to reject discrimination of all kinds. There are dark forces at play seeking to divide the community, who only want to stir hatred and villainise parts of society. There\u2019s no place for fascism in our society.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Jewish Society added, \u201cThe Jewish Society, the Union of Jewish Students, and the Jewish Chaplains are here to support you, as are university and Students\u2019 Union welfare teams.
