This newspaper\u2019s audio supplement Gettin\u2019 Rowdy with The Gaudie<\/em> was nominated for the Political Podcast Awards.<\/p>\n

2026 was the first year that a student category was included, with three shows nominated.<\/p>\n

Though not triumphing as award winners, your Gaudie podcasters Innes Paton and Fred Byrne can confirm they (we) had a fantastic evening.<\/p>\n

We would like to congratulate our new friends at The Feminist Files who won the Best Student Podcast Award. Their podcast is recorded by a team of University of Cambridge students \u201cdedicated to shedding light on feminist ideas, debates and policies.\u201d<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony was hosted at Sinfonia Smith Square at the very heart of Westminster last Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n

We were in good company, with podcasts from the likes of BBC<\/em>, The Telegraph<\/em>, The Guardian<\/em>, and The Rest is Politics<\/em> also up for awards.<\/p>\n

While the three-course dinner and free-flowing drink were not to be scoffed at, the highlight was the intriguing conversations with reporters and politicians.<\/p>\n

The hospitable and friendly team from iNHouse Communications, the PR firm that hosted the awards, placed The Gaudie<\/em> at what may have been \u2018the conservative table\u2019. We sat beside right-leaning journalists and a Tory MP with whom we had great discussions.<\/p>\n

Anthony Scaramucci, former White House communications director under Donald Trump, and Gyles Brandreth, a conservative politician turned broadcaster, presented the awards.<\/p>\n

Other winners included: Political Currency<\/em>, who won Podcast of the Year; Simple Politics<\/em>, winners of the People\u2019s Choice Award; and The News Agents<\/em>, who won Story of the Year.<\/p>\n

The Gaudie<\/em>\u2019s podcast show was founded in 2020, and has since celebrated student voices and has been a place for discussions about university news.<\/p>\n

In 2025, the show produced by Fred Byrne saw interviews with the newly elected rector, the student president, and a diverse array of contributors to our student newspaper.<\/p>\n

This year, Gettin\u2019 Rowdy with The Gaudie<\/em> sees a new limited series The Road to Holyrood, which sees weekly interviews with Aberdeen candidates standing in May\u2019s Scottish Parliament elections. Innes Paton\u2019s mission in producing the podcast is to provide a platform for students to hear from politicians to choose who to vote for.<\/p>\n
