Or rehab. Located near the Amish Country in a small compound of houses are the brothers and sisters of the Gridfaith. Constant smells of fresh bread and people frolicking about in loose white clothing is not amiss in the Gridfaith, and while you may feel a slight sense of disturbed serenity, the true peculiarity becomes quickly clear. Listen closely to their intense whispering to one another and notice how they aren’t plotting to trap you in a bear suit but instead exchange in singular five letter words:

“Mirth” whispers a woman, solemnly high-fiving a man who replies promptly, “Gnome”.

Yeah… Don’t worry, they’re weird but not dangerous. I think.

The Gridfaith are a group of loyal followers who are spiritually shackled to the daily game called ‘Wordle’. According to a few members, this group formed in early 2022 after several Quora members reported guessing the Wordle in one try before experiencing, what they call, ‘lexical transcendence’.

“I got the Word ‘SHANK’ on the first try,” says Brother Ical (birth name: Gary). “I didn’t choose the Word; the Word chose me”.

Gridfaith was originally a discord server, before gaining so much popularity they decided to all collectively move in together. They had a joint goal that they wanted to attain, finding the one Word that would achieve absolute transcendence. Those who would fail to guess the Word in one try would be cast out and kil-, they would be forced to skip dinner and must wear a hat with the word ‘Uninspired’ on it. On a brighter note, the special person to guess the Word in one guess would be this cul-, groups new temporary leader. This is an extremely honourable role, as it is said that they would be closer to transcendence the more times you are the One.

“I was the One for nearly a week” says Sister Juta. “I then guessed the word ‘STINK’ in two guesses and immediately was demoted to an ‘Uninspired’. I was not allowed a grape. I deserved it”.

While outsiders may scoff at this existence and question why a bunch of thirty-somethings are drawn to such a thing, the Gridfaith insists that they are the only group of people to be blessed with such clarity on this tortured earth. They wanted me to write this article to advertise what they believe is the only way to salvation.

“The final Word is the one that will get us into the pearly gates above”, says the current leader, Brother Lex. “It is basically a password, and we are the only people clever enough to catch this out. SPINE! “

I have not managed to gain more information on the Gridfaith for at that current moment, the rest of the compound repeatedly shouted the word ‘Spine’ in unison. I believe it is some sort of auditory ritual that the One can administer to make sure his followers are on their spiritually lexical game.

Far be it for me to judge.

JUDGE!

By Khreshnee Thayabaran They converse in five letter words.
