The Gaudie were invited to the newly reopened Prezzo on the second floor of Union square. The restaurant’s walls are decorated boldly with a myriad of Pinterest-esque pictures. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the food was served without much wait.
The menu was stacked with delicious choices and even had a whole separate menu for Emily, who is gluten-free, which was greatly appreciated. Not to mention the restaurant has the Coeliac UK stamp of approval! The staff were very accommodating to dietary requirements, and brought the gluten-free food to the table separately from the gluten-containing food.
We each had three courses and shared a bottle of wine, all costing just under £150.
Starters

For my starter I had the Hot Honey Glazed Mozzarella Sticks, £8.75. Perfectly coated with golden brown bread crumbs, these mozzarella sticks were delicious. The cheese was stringy and thick and laying on a bed of marinara and pesto. The sauce perfectly balanced out the savoury flavour of the cheese providing an almost sweetness. I gave these mozzarella sticks 4.5/5 * with my only criticism being that there wasn’t more! – Hannah
Calamari, £9.25 Small bites of fried squid accompanied with a pesto-infused mayonnaise dipping sauce. Fresh and crunchy – a great start to the meal. I gave the calamari 4/5*- Oliver
For my starter I had the Gluten Free Tomato Bruschetta for £8.45. I was treated to beautifully caramelised tomato and red onions, a touch of balsamic vinegar, and a sprinkle of pesto and fresh basil. The base had a slightly tough consistency, making it difficult to cut into, but nevertheless, had a lovely flavour. Overall, I would give this dish a 3/5 * – Emily
Mains

When at an Italian restaurant, my go to is the Spaghetti Carbonara; it is my absolute favourite pasta! This “Italian classic” at Prezzo will cost you £16.95. The creamy pasta was full of pieces of pancetta. I will say I found it a little bit too smokey with an overly savoury flavour. I gave it 3/5 *- Hannah
Lasagna, £17.95. An Italian restaurant staple, this simply presented beef Lasagna packed a good amount of flavour between its layers. The rich ragu sauce and melted cheese topping made this a delightfully comforting, well-portioned main meal. 4/5*- Oliver
For mains I had the Gluten Free Fusilli Chicken Carbonara Al Forno for £21.95. For the pasta lovers out there – you will not be disappointed! You need not worry about mushy, flavourless gluten-free pasta. This dish was a creamy and cheesy delight, with a mix of chicken, pancetta and prosciutto! As a bonus, it paired delightfully with the complimentary Sauvignon Blanc poured for us upon entry. This straight-from-the-oven comfort was a 4/5 * – Emily
Dessert

Cinnamon Swirl Cheesecake, £8.50. With spongy layers, this was more of a Madeira cake than a cheesecake, and the overwhelming cherry flavour made it hard to detect any cinnamon. Nonetheless, a nicely presented tasty treat to conclude the meal. 3/5* – Oliver
I was truly shocked to see something other than a gluten-free brownie be the only option on the dessert menu (if you know, you know). Aside from the Italian classic Affogato, selections of ice-cream and sorbets, gluten-free folks can also enjoy the Hot Chocolate Fudge Cake for £7.95! This very rich, warm dessert complimented with a scoop of vanilla ice cream deserves a 5/5 * – Emily
