WayWORD Festival launches (23rd-27th September)

The new academic year is opening in style, with the WayWORD festival inaugurating the first week of classes.

The student-led arts festival will run from the 23rd to the 27th of September, hosting talks, panels and workshops for every taste.

If you are an Aberdeen-based creative, this is the perfect opportunity to nourish your craft. All you need to do is sign up in advance for events you’re interested in and keep an eye on the main page and/or socials for exciting updates.

Performers contributing include Mae Diansangu, co-founder of the women and non-binary collective Hysteria, Koby Adom, Jenn Ashworth, Lemn Sissay and many others.

The festival’s programme is rich, embracing themes of gender, belonging and race and encompassing a variety of different media. From poetry to spoken word, to comics and screenplays, there’s a million and one way this festival will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Stay tuned for an exclusive interview of co-founder of the festival Kirsty Lawie with the Gaudie, soon to be released. In the meantime, have a look at the program, sign up, save the date on your calendar.
