The reinstatement comes after the service, which ran from Hillhead Student Halls to the Forrester Hill Campus, was suspended in September due to Coronavirus restrictions.
Popular with First Year and Medical students the service, operated by First Bus, offers free transport to students and staff with a University ID card.
Second-year Medical student Callum de Greef described the shuttle as ‘a lifesaver’ especially since it takes ‘an hour to walk into Foresterhill, now it’ll take me 20 minutes’ with ‘hardly any other universities having this sort of stuff’.
The Gaudie spoke to David Mercieca, a previous Convener for Medical Sciences, who highlighted that despite no longer a part of the Education committee he will ‘continue to ensure that student’s voices don’t go unheard’.
Mercieca also described the reinstatement as ‘a win for the entire student population’ since ‘the 9U shuttle bus has and will always be an important link between both University campuses’.
