On Sunday night the lights upon San Siro shone brightly for the home team F.C. Inter. The Italian derby was dominated by Antonio Conte’s team, which came through with a 2-0 victory over Juventus after more than four years.

The win was not only an important redemption for Inter, but it also helped the team to cement their place right behind top of the list A.C. Milan, respectively with 40 and 43 points in the Serie A ranking.

Antonio Conte’s side showed clear superiority during the whole game, with one goal for each half-time and missed chances to score even more. There was nothing to do for the black and white team, not even when a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at the eleventh minute, but it was quickly ruled offside.

It was Arturo Vidal from Inter to take the lead, putting his team on the board and Juventus suffered at the hands of the ex-midfielder. Inter kept on pushing and almost found another goal thanks to Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku. While on Juve’s left side Chiellini, Ramsey and Frabotta couldn't keep up with Hakimi and Barella.

Juventus showed the usual excellent possession of the ball but couldn't capitalize on any occasion. CR7 tried to work his magic, but he was never able to catch the blue-black keeper Handanovic off guard. While Juventus radiated frustration on the field, the coach Andrea Pirlo announced the subs and prepared a more offensive side with Dejan Kulusevski, Weston McKennie and Federico Bernardeschi.

Unfortunately for Juventus, none of it really worked and the team never managed to be a real threat for Inter, which found the second goal less than ten minutes into the second half with Nicolò Barella.

Antonio Conte’s team won the 175° Italian derby and is now one step closer to reach Milan at the top of Serie A’s ranking. A.C. Milan is currently close to being crowned ‘winter champions’ of Serie A and have recently acquired forward Mario Mandžukić, while Juve keep on dropping behind and remain away from a Champions League spot.
