The University of Aberdeen will be closing the Foresterhill and Old Aberdeen campuses tomorrow (October 20th) according to an email sent to students.

The announcement comes in the wake of the Met office issuing weather warnings for rain and wind into the weekend, as well as a red weather warning for rain in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and angus.

Storm Babet is expected to bring exceptional rainfall as well as severe flooding with potential risk to life and property. Disruption to travel and power is also expected.

Essential on-campus services will still be provided at Hillhead, but the university is urging student and staff to remain at home.

The Sir Duncan Rice Library and the MacRobert building were forced to close today due to high winds causing safety concerns with the automatic doors. Both are expected to reopen as normal on Saturday subject to the weather.

Student Advice & Support, Infohub and the Careers & Employability Services also closed and will remain closed tomorrow, with remote services available between 9am and 5pm.
